“I’d love to, but it’s just not in the budget.” I’ve had to say this quite a bit lately but for some reason it’s never met with, “I understand. Maybe next time!” I’m often left feeling defensive about my spending choices, guilty for not choosing the one that includes what someone else thinks it should, and horrible for in the end giving in and not having enough money to cover my own priorities.

In the flurry of wedding and honeymoon planning, many couples forget to plan for their financial future. According to a PayPal survey conducted last year, at least 10 percent of the couples surveyed said they have ended a relationship at least in part due to money. The survey also found that money causes more arguments than sex or any other issue.

You will earn unlimited 2% cash back for all non-PIN debit card purchases you make for the first 90 days starting on the day that your account is opened.

After the first 90 days, when your Current Account Balance at the start of the day is $5,000 or more, you'll earn unlimited 2% cash back for all non-PIN debit card purchases you make on that day. When your Current Account Balance at the start of the day is less than $5,000, you'll earn unlimited 1% cash back on all non-PIN debit card purchases you make on that day. To determine your starting Current Account Balance, we use your closing balance after all settled transactions from the previous business day. If you choose to earn coffee or music perks instead of cash back perks, you'll earn:

Music: For every $100 in non-PIN debit card purchases, you will earn 2 songs when your Current Account Balance at the start of the day is $5,000 or more or 1 song when it is below $5,000.
Coffee: For every $200 in non-PIN debit card purchases, you will earn 2 cups of coffee when your Current Account Balance at the start of the day is $5,000 or more or 1 cup when it is below $5,000.

Former PerkStreet customers who closed their accounts within the last 24 months are not eligible to receive this offer.

You may switch perks programs at any time with no penalty.

In addition you will earn 5% cash back when shopping at certain retailers. We will announce the retailers and associated time periods for earning 5% cash back at those retailers via Twitter (@perkstreet), our Facebook page or other company communications. The amount you can earn at the 5% cash back bonus rate is limited to $250 per household annually (starting on the day your account was opened). The total amount of cash back you can earn remains unlimited. Unless specific stores are named, qualifying purchases are determined by MCC codes.

*Making $601 in weekly non-PIN purchases will earn you $625 in perks annually (when you maintain a balance of $5,000). According to the Federal Reserve paper 'Household Switching Behavior at Depository Institutions' (2002), the average lifespan of a checking account is ten years, which would make the average family's lifetime earning $6,250.
